Odisha to go for e-evaluation of +2 papers this year: Minister

Odisha government has decided to go for e-evaluation of answer sheets of Plus Two examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) in order to make it more transparent and credible for students appearing the examinations, Minister for Higher Education  Pradip Panigrahy said  here today.

“In order to make the evaluation process more transparent and clean as well as gain confidence of the students, it has been decided to go for e-evaluation of answer sheets,” said Panigrahy.

However, the file on the issue is pending with the department of Information and Technology and a final decision in this regard will be taken within a day or two, said sources.

After the IT department’s go ahead, tenders will be floated for e-evaluation. For this purpose, answer sheets will be scanned and then deposited. Specialized training on the process will be imparted to teachers. Examinees will be able to view their answer sheets sometime after publication of the results.

The CHSE had received much flak for faulty evaluation after the publication Plus Two annual examination results last year.

Replying to an adjournment motion notice moved by the Congress in the Odisha Assembly onJune 17 last year on the issue of faulty evaluation of answer sheets of Plus Two exams and the mess created by it, the Higher Education minister had told the House that the government would constitute a fact finding team for greater transparency in the matter and had announced that the government would introduce e-evaluation of answer scripts from the next year.
