Odisha govt asks discoms to give details of unelectrified villages

After the Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd (REC) confirmed that 12660 villages are yet to be electrified in the state, a clueless Odisha government has asked all the four discoms to give details about the un-electrified villages in the state.

“Get all these un-electrified villages verified and confirm the actual status of the villages so far as electrification is concerned. In addition to the above list, you are requested to get all the above un-electrified village list verified,” said a letter written by Energy department to CESU, WESCO, NESCO, SOUTHCO.

The reaction came after REC, quoting figures from the 2011 Census, confirmed that 12660 villages are yet to be electrified in the state. It has asked for the details of district-wise list of un-electrified villages left uncovered/untouched under any programmes, including RGGVY.
