Take-over of land encroached by Odisha ashram begins

The Odisha government today began operations to take into its possession government land illegally encroached by the Trahi Achyuta Ashram at Jhinti Sasan on the outskirts of the capital city.

A dispensary and a post office have been constructed on the land encroached by Trahi Achyuta Ashram

The state government will take into its possession 82 decimals of government land illegally encroached by Trahi Achyuta Ashram on which a post office, a charitable dispensary and a bank have been built.

Bhubaneswar ADM, sub-collector, Balianta tehsildar, policemen in large numbers and Revenue department officials are present at the site.

The state government had served notices on Trahi Achyuta Ashram at Jhiinti Sasan to vacate the land it has illegally encroached and built structures on it.

The government had served the notice on Sri Sri Mahapurusa Achyutananda Trust, C/O- Surendra Nath Mishra under encroachment case notification no 70/2015 form (B) 6(1).

Signage declaring it to be government property has already been fixed on the encroached land while ashram incumbents were seen carrying away their articles to vacate the place.

Sources in the district administration said the buildings on the encroached lands will be sealed and later a Revenue Inspector’s (RI) office will be started in it.
