Odisha govt has no information on housing schemes, says Dilip Ray

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Dec 8:

Even as Odisha Government continues to claim that over 10 lakh pakka houses have been built for deserving beneficiaries in past two years, it doesn’t have any such data with it, Rourkela BJP MLA Dilip Ray alleged today.

Citing a reply from Panchayati Raj Minister Arun Sahoo tabled in the Assembly on December 6 to his unstarred question, Ray said that even though the government spends big bucks for advertisements where they go on to specify numbers of pakka houses built, the Minister — in his one liner answer – only mentioned “data is being collected”.

In his questions directed at Minister Sahoo, Ray had wanted to know the number of household in the state, year of survey, number of households without pakka house, the schemes operational in the state to facilitate pakka houses, timeframe by which the government intends to facilitate pakka houses for all.

He further wanted the numbers of beneficiaries that have received pakka houses under Indira Awas Yojana and Biju Pakka Ghar Yojana, the year when the schemes were launched in the state and the funds spent by the Center and the State Government on these schemes.
