Odisha HC slaps fine on Mohana MLA

The Odisha High Court on Thursday slapped a fine of Rs 2000 on Mohana MLA Basanti Mallick for wasting the time of the court.

A single bench of Justice CR Dash dismissed the case filed by Mallick while expressing resentment against the MLA for delaying the case.

It may be noted that the defeated candidate of Mohana assembly constituency Dasharathy Gamang had filed a petition in the court to declare the election of Mallick null and void.

Though Mallick had filed a petition to dismiss the original case filed by Gamang, the court could not hear the case due to her frequent absence.
