Hockey Odisha bowed out of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women's National Championship 2014 (Division A) after they went down to Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy by 2-3 goals in a keenly contested semi-final match at Chamundi Vihar Hockey Ground at Mysore today.
Rakhi Prajapati of Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy scored the first goal in the 3rd minute. However, the Odisha eves replied quickly after Captain Ambika Toppo converted a penalty corner in the 6thminute. Six minutes later, Anuja Singh of Madhya Pradesh scored the second goal.
The Madhya Pradesh eves increased their lead in the second half when Rakhi Prajapati scored the third goal in the 47th minute.
Though Hockey Odisha managed to score the second goal by their captain in the 69th minute, it was too late for them to stage a comeback.
With this win, Madhya Pradesh would meet Haryana in the final on Sunday while Hockey Odisha would meet Jharkhand for the third place.
