Odisha man attacked for opposing lewd comments against woman

Kendrapara: A man was attacked with a sharp weapon when he objected to passing of lewd comments against a woman in Bahakuda area under Marine police limits in Kendrapara district today. The attacker fled the spot after the incident.

On basis of a complaint lodged by the man’s wife, Kadambini Behera, the Marine Police registered a case 75/21 and launched an investigation into the matter.

Some women were travelling in an auto-rickshaw from Bahakuda area to Ramnagar. In the meantime, a youth, Sudhir Behera riding a motorcycle passed lewd comments and made obsecene gestures towards a woman in the auto-rickshaw. When the woman objected, Sudhir scolded her in foul language.

Kadambani who was travelling in the same auto-rickshaw called up her husband and narrated the matter. As soon as Kadambani’s husband reached the spot and tried to intervene, Sudhir attacked him with a sharp weapon causing grievous injuries. Following this, Sudhir escaped the spot.

The critically injured was rushed to the hospital with the help of locals.
