Odisha marathon boy Budhia records statement before magistrate

The Twin City Commissionerate Police got the statement of Odisha marathon boy Budhia Singh recorded under section 164 of the CrPC before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court here today.

“He asked me why I had gone to Kodaikanal. I told them that I had gone there for holidaying. We had gone there on our own accord. The producer of the biopic on me had taken us there for holidaying,” said Budhia to reporters after recording his statement at the court.

The Commissionerate Police had yesterday recorded the statements of Budhia and his mother Sukanti Singh under section 161 of the CrPC.

Both Budhia and his mother had recorded their statements at the Nayapalli police station in the capital city yesterday.

The wonder boy and his mother had arrived here by a flight from Mumbai on Wednesday.

Notably, Budhia had not reported to the Sports Hostel in Bhubaneswar, where he is training since he was seven, after the summer vacation giving rise to speculations over his disappearance.

The marathon boy had told reporters on his arrival at the Biju Patnaik International Airport on Wednesday that nobody had kidnapped him and he was holidaying in Kodaikanal with his mother.

His mother Sukanti Singh had told reporters that Budhia was not going to return to the Sports Hostel in Bhubaneswar, where he was training since he was seven.
