Odisha: Notorious criminal injured in police encounter during loot bid

Angul: A dreaded criminal sustained injuries in an encounter with police while planning to loot Rantalei petrol pump in Odisha’s Angul district late last night.

The injured criminal, identified as Bilu Khan, was initially admitted to the Angul district headquarters hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

According to reports, Khan and his two associates Raja and Bulu opened fire at the cops of Special Squad of the district police while the latter were patrolling near Derjang Project area around 1 AM.

As the trio was trying to flee the spot with a motorcycle, Khan sustained bullet injuries on his left leg during retaliation by the policemen and fell from the vehicle. Two other criminals managed to give police the slip.

At least 12 criminal cases are pending against Khan, police sources said, adding that the three were hatching a plan to loot Rantalei petrol pump.
