Odisha police arrest BJD corporator over links with gangster D-brothers

Cuttack: The Twin City Commissionerate Police today arrested Ranjita Biswal, a BJD corporator of Cuttack Municipal Corporation’s ward no. 7, over her alleged links with arrested gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamanta (D-brothers), informed Cuttack DCP Akhilesvar Singh.

“A person identified as Niku was arrested in connection with a firing case registered by the Sadar police station. The corporator had supplied the weapon of offense to Niku who later committed the crime. On the basis of revelations by him, Biswal has been arrested,” the police official said.

Police had earlier grilled Biswal in 2016 for her alleged links with the D-brothers. Notably, she was the joint secretary of Cuttack Nagar Yuvak Sangh, a now-dissolved organisation floated by the Dhalasamanta brothers.

On the other hand, the BJD today expelled Biswal from the party for anti-party activities and links with anti-social elements.
