Odisha police nab four in Bolangir sex video case

In a major development in Bolangir sex video case, Odisha police have arrested four youths accused of circulating the sex video involving two youths shot in a jungle in the district, sources said today.

A group of five had been allegedly blackmailing the two junior college students to pay Rs 50, 000 after making their sex video. Later, they uploaded the sex tape to internet as they defaulted on paying the full amount.

“On July 25, a boy and a girl were sitting on a culvert. Five persons went there and dragged them to a nearby jungle where they forcibly engaged them in a sexual act. The intimate acts were videographed by them. Then they blackmailed them that if they don’t cough up Rs 50, 000 then they would circulate the video on internet. Out of fear of ignominy, they agreed to it and paid Rs 20, 000 some time later. The pair committed them to pay the rest of the amount in subsequent time. In the meantime, the video was circulated and the victims came to know about it owing which they reported the incident to the police,” Bolangir SP Ashish Kumar Singh said.

We have arrested four of them and efforts are on to nab the fifth one. The arrested were forwarded to court today, he added.

“We were talking while sitting on a culvert on our way to college. Five men took us to a nearby forest forcibly and beat us. They forced us to have sex and recorded it on their mobile phones. I demand death penalty for them so that it would be a deterrant for others,” the victim said.

The accused have been identified as Sahadev Behera, Lilamaya Guru, Sambhu Mahakud and Anant Mahakud. The fifth accused is at large.

Notably, the victims hail from Deogaon under the Tusra police limits and are students of a junior college in the area.
