Odisha polls-2019: Voter turnout recorded at 73.08%

Bhubaneswar: The overall polling percentage of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections held in Odisha this year has been recorded at 73.08, informed State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar today.

While Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat recorded the highest voter turnout with 78.89%, Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency registered the lowest at 59.60%.

In Assembly segment, Kotpad seat recorded the highest polling with 86.83% while Bhubaneswar (Central) constituency registered the lowest at 43.04%.

The voter turnout was 73.76 per cent in the first phase, 72.56 per cent in the second phase, 71.62 per cent in the third phase and 74.50 per cent in the fourth phase.

Notably, Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were held simultaneously in Odisha in four phases on April 11, 18, 23 and 29. Worth mentioning, election to the Patkura assembly constituency, which was earlier scheduled to be held on April 29, was countermanded following the death of BJD candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla and rescheduled for May 19, the date for seventh and final phase of elections in the country.
