BJD’s MLA candidate Manjula Swain faces protest during poll campaign

AICC in-charge for Odisha B K Hariprasad arrived here in a short while ago to finalize the programme for the party’s star campaigners Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi who are scheduled to arrive in the state on March 31 and April 7 respectively.

“Sonia ji and Rahul ji will be the star campaigners for the party in Odisha,” Hariprasad said on his arrival here this afternoon.

Hariprasad will meet PCC president Jayadev Jena and other senior leaders of the party. With a large number of state Congress leaders having left the party and heavy weight leaders like PCC president Jayadev Jena, Narasingh Mishra, Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mahapatra and Srikant Jena themselves contesting elections, the Congress will mainly depend on star campaigners from outside to resurrect the party which is now in a terrible state.

The party is already behind the BJD in its campaign as the ruling party’s star campaigner chief minister Naveen Patnaik has already launched his party’s campaign from his home turf Hinjili on March 26 and is today campaigning in Titilagarh trying to convert his party’s gains during ULB polls in western Odisha to votes for Assembly and LS polls.
