Odisha polls: Three SCB doctors in fray

Three senior doctors and professors of the SCB Medical College and Hospital here have applied for voluntary retirement after they were nominated as party candidates for the upcoming polls.

While the senior assistant professor in the Medicine department Dr N. Raghu Murmu has been given the BJP ticket for the Mayurbhanj assembly, the SCB superintendent as well as professor and head of Surgery department Dr Pratap Kumar Rath has been declared as BJP’s MLA candidate for Nilgiri. Dr Rajashri Mallick, assistant professor, Pathology has been nominated as the BJD candidate for Tirtol Assembly seat.

Earlier, reputed gynaecologist and retired professor of VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla Dr Raseswari Panigrahi had been named as The BjD candidate for the Sambalpur Assembly constituency. She is the sister of veteran Congress leader Sriballav Panigrahi.
