Odisha: Public health superintending engineer under Vigilance scanner in State Capital

Bhubaneswar: Separate teams of Odisha Vigilance sleuths today carried out simultaneous raids at six different places associated with an engineer working in the Public Health department here.

The superintending engineer (SE) identified as Biswabandhu Panigrahi has allegedly amassed properties disproportionate to his legal sources of income. House searches were done over the DA charge.

The six places where raids were carried out include Panigrahi’s ancestral house in Toranapada village of Bhadrak district, a two-storey building in VSS Nagar locality of Bhubaneswar, a three-bedroom flat in Assotech Pride apartment at Rudrapur on the outskirts of the State Capital, a building located in Matha Sahi of Bhadrak town and his office room and government residence.

The raid was conducted by Vigilance teams comprising several subordinate staff of the anti-corruption agency, led by seven Deputy SPs, five Inspectors, and eight ASIs.

“Several important documents and cash were seized during the raids,” an official said.

The simultaneous raids were underway till the time when this report was filed.
