Odisha reports 48 new COVID19 positive cases; count soars to 672

Bhubaneswar: As many as  48 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Odisha  taking the total count of cases in the state to 672, informed the Government today.

The fresh cases are from Ganjam  (12), Balasore (12) and Jajpur (2) Bhadrak (6), Sundergarh (1), Puri (10), Nayagarh (3), Deogarh ( 1) and Cuttack (1). Contact tracing and followup action is underway.

With this, the number of active cases in the state surged to 511 while the number of recovered patients now stands at 158. So far, three persons have died due to the respiratory disease in the state.

Worth mentioning Ganjam district has reported the highest number of positive cases  at 264 . With scores of migrant workers returning to the Odisha mostly from Surat, the number of cases in the state, mainly in Ganjam different has registered a quantum jump in the last couple of days. Of the 30 districts in Odisha, 21 have so far reported COVID-19 cases.

Yesterday, Government’s Spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi had informed that of the 86 people, who tested positive on Thursday, 84 were lodged in quarantine centres following their return from other states while two remaining were from containment zone.
