Five more COVID-19 cases detected in Odisha; active caseload reaches 18

Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported five fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours taking the active caseload to 18.

Speaking on the surge in COVID cases in Odisha, Public Health Director Dr Niranjan Mishra said that the number of COVID tests has increased. All the new infectees have been kept in isolation at their homes.

He said that the situation is under observation in the State. However, there is no need to panic due to the surge in COVID cases caused by the JN.1 sub-variant of Omicron strain. Rather, people need to remain alert, avoid crowd, and mask up if required.
