No summer vacation for Odisha teachers. Here’s why

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to achieve the ‘zero fail mission’ in Matriculation examination, the School and Mass Education department is planning to direct school teachers to take classes for students poor in studies during summer vacation.

Speaking to reporters today here, the School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said the government is taking measures to provide quality education to students. Schools will deploy teachers on rotational basis to take classes for students who are weak in studies during summer holiday that begins from May till mid-June.

This apart, it was decided that teachers of High Schools will undergo special training. Schools in 29 districts are organising ‘Utkarsh’ programme for Class IX students. He said e-Contents are provided to students with the help from ICT@School scheme. Additional classroom, Science Lab, Computer Lab and Library have been set up in schools to attract students towards studies.

The minister further said science and book exhibitions are being held for school students to increase their creativity. Science and Math kit has been provided to High School students to increase their knowledge about science and its application.

He informed that retired teachers have been appointed to take classes in schools which are facing a shortage of teachers.
