Odisha Train Accident: Kin of deceased need to visit AIIMS Bhubaneswar to identify bodies, says Railway

Bhubaneswar: In an important announcement, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has informed that the kin of the deceased in the Balasore train accident need to visit AIIMS Bhubaneswar to identify the bodies.

They are not required to visit any other hospital for the purpose of identification, the ECoR said.

All the unidentified bodies have been securely placed in containers located on the premises of AIIMS Bhubaneswar. These containers are accessible to the relatives and friends for identification.

Additionally, a dedicated helpdesk has been established at the hospital. The state forensic laboratory is conducting DNA tests on those claiming to identify the severely mutilated bodies.

The list of victims of the Odisha train tragedy undergoing treatment at various hospitals have been uploaded on three websites.

The websites are srcodisha.nic.inbmc.gov.in and osdma.org.

This apart, list and photographs of the deceased passengers have been uploaded on the websites to facilitate identification.

The train accident involving Coromandel Express, SMVP-Howrah Superfast Express and a goods train at Bahanaga in Balasore district on June 2 has claimed at least 288 lives.
