Odisha woman confesses to killing hubby with help of paramour

Berhampur, May 5:

A woman of Odisha’s Ganjam district today confessed to murdering her husband with the help of her paramour after he came to know about the extramarital affair.

According to reports, Jamuna Patra, wife of Laxminarayan Patra of Mohana in the district, had an illicit relationship with Narayan Sahu, proprietor of a welding shop.

Narayan and Januma used to spend time together at the former’s rented house in Ankushpur under Berhampur Sadar police limits.

As relationship between the two deepened gradually, they decided to eliminate Laxminarayan, who was suffering leg injury.

On the pretext of treatment, they convinced him to go to Berhampur where the three stayed at Narayan’s house.

During their stay, Laxminarayan came to know about their affair and opposed it following which he was attacked by the two.

They strangulated him to death at the spot and went absconding after locking the body inside the house.

Being unaware about Laxminarayan’s whereabouts, his family members reached the house of Jamuna’s father at Kuiguda village under Brahmanigaon police limits in Kandhamal district where she had hidden herself after committing the crime.

On being asked about Laxminarayan, she showed unawareness which brought her under suspicion.

Police had detained the woman after her husband’s body was recovered from the house two days ago.

During interrogation, she confessed to her crime after which a case was registered under Section 302 of IPC.

However, Narayan is still absconding.
