Odisha’s Chittaranjan Tripathy appointed as director of National School of Drama

Bhubaneswar: Chittaranjan Tripathy, renowned actor-filmmaker from Odisha, has been appointed as the director of National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi.

A formal announcement in this regard will be made today.

Tripathy, who hails from Chandbali of Bhadrak district, became the first Odia to hold the prestigious position.

He made his directorial debut with Odia film ‘Dhauli Express’ in the year 2007 and also acted in the movie. Besides, he was the script writer, music director, lyricist, playback singer and producer of the film, which received three Odisha State Film Awards.

He gained immense popularity after playing ‘Trivedi’ character in Sacred Games series on Netflix.

Tripathy completed diploma in acting at the NSD in 1996 while Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was his batchmate.
