Paradip bridge mishap: Sunken truck traced, driver & helper still missing

Paradip: After hours-long operation, Fire personnel and ODRAF team today managed to trace the truck that had sunk yesterday after falling off Bhutamundai bridge into Mahanadi river here in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.

However, the driver and helper of the vehicle were missing till last reports came in.

The two went missing since yesterday after the 12-wheeler truck fell from a height of 70 feet into the Mahanadi river. The mishap occurred when the truck was returning to Chandikhole from Paradip after unloading cargo and hit the parapet of the bridge.

Fire personnel and a team of ODRAF have been pressed into service to rescue them. After more than 24 hours of the accident, chances of rescuing the duo alive are getting lessened. The driver of the truck has been identified as Ajit Mandal hailing from Udayabat.
