PIL seeks medical examination of Odisha MLA by AIIMS docs

Cuttack: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking medical examination of arrested BJD lawmaker from Cuttack-Choudwar Pravat Biswal by a team of specialists from AIIMS was filed in the Orissa High Court today.

The PIL has raised questions over Biswal’s prolonged stay at SCB Medical College & Hospital (SCBMC & H), Cuttack on grounds of illness.

The petition further sought to make State Health Secretary and SCBMC & H authorities as respondents in the matter.

Moreover, the PIL has sought for shifting of Biswal from SCBMC &H to AIIMS if needed.

Earlier, allegations were doing rounds that Biswal under the pretext of illness was not cooperating with CBI officers when he was taken on remand by the agency for interrogation.

Notably, Biswal was arrested by the CBI for his alleged complicity in the Seashore Group chit fund scam in the wee hours of September 19 from his Mahanadi Vihar residence in Cuttack.
