PNG Minister offers tribute to Bakshi Jagabandhu in Odisha

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today offered floral tributes to freedom fighter Bakshi Jagabandhu at his native place Gadarodanga in Odisha’s Puri district as part of the Tiranga Yatra and fortnight-long  ‘70 Saal Azadi – Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani’ celebrations.

The Minister along with several saffron party workers took out a bike rally from Mangalaghat here at around 9 am.

After reaching Gadarodanga in Brahmagiri area, the Minister garlanded the statue of Buxi Jagabandhu, the commander of Paika Rebellion in 1817.

“Elated to garland statute of Bakshi Jagabandhu at his native place Gadarodanga in Odisha’s Puri Dist,” Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan tweeted.

The Union Minister also met the descendants of the legendary freedom fighter at his village. Lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, younger brother of Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra alias Lulu Mohapatra, greeted Pradhan.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 9 had launched the ‘Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani’ celebrations to commemorate the Quit India Movement on the occasion of 70th year of Independence.
