Ponzi firm director, manager arrested

Another chit fund scam has come to the fore with the arrest of a director and manager of a chit fund company from Salania under Hatadihi block in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.

Nandipada police on Wednesday arrested director Ramesh Das and manager Rupak Khandei of Surya Micro Finance and seized several incriminating documents from the firm’s office at Salania under Hatadihi block.

“The action followed an order of the SDJM court, Anandpur,” said Debjani Nayak, Investigating Officer, Nandipada police station.

The SDJM Court had issued the order after 21 depositors had alleged before the court that the aforesaid ponzi firm had duped Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh from the depositors under various schemes, Nayak said.
