Raghunath Mohanty resigns as OLIC’s chairman

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader Raghunath Mohanty today resigned from the post of Chairman, Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC) citing personal reasons.

He met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the latter’s residence and tendered his resignation, reports said.

Speaking to reporters, Mohanty said, “I have only resigned as the Chairman of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation but I am still with the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) as the party’s vice-president.”

“BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik will decide whether to field me as a candidate in the upcoming Assembly polls or not,” the five-time MLA from Basta constituency said.

Mohanty was appointed as the Chairman of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation by Patnaik on May 24, last year. He was also accorded the rank of a Cabinet Minister.
