On the eve of National Voters’ Day on Saturday, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a sand sculpture with the message “Proud to be a voter: Ready to Vote” at the Puri beach on Friday.

Three tons of sand was used to create the 4 ft high sculpture, which has an electronic voting machine (EVM) and a lady voter showing her finger with the indelible ink on her nail. Students of the sand school run by him in the tourist town helped him in the effort.

“The message is aimed at encouraging voters, especially young voters, to take part in the political process by exercising their franchise,” Pattnaik said.
