The 14 party Convention Against Communalism has begun a short while ago here.

CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member Sitaram Yechury is the chief co-ordinator of the multi-party convention.

Mulayam Singh Yadav from Samajwadi Party, A B Bardhan from CPI, Prakash Karat from CPI(M), Prafulla Mahanta from Asom Gana Parishad and Baijayant Panda from BJD are attending the meet. Panda is representing chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik who could not make it to the meet because of his preoccupation with the post cyclone and flood relief operation in Odisha.
