Self-styled Odisha godman arrested, locals set ashram afire

Police today arrested a self-proclaimed godman in Sadansa village under Niali police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district on charges of allegedly misbehaving with women.

Following the arrest, irate locals went on a rampage and set the ashram of Jitu Baba alias Shraban Kumar Bhol afire.

According to reports, an FIR was registered with Niali police against the Baba and his aides for allegedly misbehaving with women of the village.

The residents of the village alleged that the Baba had encroached a piece of government land and had constructed a shanty where he was running his ashram. Various illegal activities were going on in the ashram since long, they alleged.
