If sources are to be believed Odisha’s most wanted sex racket kingpin Sunil Meher had launched ‘hire a girlfriend’ scheme to entice customers.

During the interrogation of Sunil Meher, who was arrested from Kolkata yesterday, the kingpin reportedly spilled the beans about his modus operandi of his sex trade empire.

The notorious kingpin offered women to his clients on a packaged deal christened as ‘hire a girlfriend’. As per the deal, the client gets to hire a ‘girlfriend’ on a week-long basis for a charge between Rs 30, 000 and Rs 40, 000 depending on negotiation capability and services offered to the client.

Apart from high profile domestic escorts from across India, Sunil was said to be sourcing sex workers from Kyrgyzstan and Russia who were engaged on contract basis.

In this fast paced consumeristic society, where companies are vying to acquire major share in their product segment through e-commerce platforms, sex traders too are floating several schemes to attract consumers through the Internet.

Sunil had hosted a sex website and operating through social media platforms to hook men. Besides, his services were also available to his clients in major cities like Kolkata, Delhi, Surat, Punjab and Ahmedabad, sources added.

However, Sunil Meher refuted the allegations of running sex trade in Odisha.

“The allegations are baseless. I have left this business since I am residing outside Odisha since last one year,” Sunil Meher claimed.

On the other hand, Commissionerate Police today sought five-day remand of arrested sex racket kingpin Sunil Meher for further interrogation.

Twin City Commissionerate Police filed a remand plea before Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) Court here. However, the court allowed the police to take Meher on a four-day remand.

According to sources, the investigators are seeking remand of the sex racketeer to extract information about his inter-state operations, network among others.

“We have applied for a five-day remand. After taking him into remand, we would interrogate from various angles. Prima facie it appears that he was operating his business in other states also. We would get a clear picture after interrogation,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.

He has been active in the flesh trade in Odisha since 18 years, a source claimed.
