Shocking! 7-year old boy in Odisha ‘sacrificed’ to ward off evil forces

Balangir, Sept 28:

Two persons including a tantrik ( black magician) were arrested and two other detained in Odisha’s Balangir district for allegedly killing a seven year old boy to propitiate a goddess and ward off evil forces, reports said today.

The alleged “human sacrifice’ took place on Friday.

The body of the deceased boy, identified as Dasrath, son of Jalestry Parabhoi of Jhalipadar village, was found floating in a pond in Gandhrabadh on Saturday, police said.

His tongue was slit.

Local reports said four persons including the tantrik had picked up the boy while he was playing near his house on Friday. They took him to a nearly village called Chulifunka saying they would offer him snacks. On the way they allegedly slit the boy’s tongue, tied his hands with a rope and dumped him in a pond.

Next morning, some people of Gandhrabadh village spotted Dasrath’s body floating in a pond and informed Bangomunda police station.

The police later nabbed the four accused based on the statement of the boy’s mother, .

The arrested have been identified as Lingaraj Dash ( tantrik), Banka Behera, tantrik’s son Chhanda Dash and Hrushikesh Dash.

Banka Behera has confessed to having killed the child after the tantrik told him ‘sacrifice’ a boy if he wanted to ward off evil forces that were causing him harm, police sources said.
