Space entrepreneur Sushmita Mohanty to head Odisha’s ‘Mo School’ programme

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today appointed noted spaceship designer and serial space entrepreneur Sushmita Mohanty as Chairperson of ‘Mo School’ programme that is aimed at to promote and facilitate volunteerism to give back to one’s own school.

The CM had launched this programme on November 14 (on the occasion of Children’s Day) at state-level function.

Speaking to the media after announcing her appointment, Patnaik said: “Dr Susmita Mohanty symbolises the ‘Mo School’ initiative, she is an example of what every odia girl and boy can aspire and achieve given the right support. With the ‘Mo School’ initiative the futuristic and dynamic potential of young children will find greater heights, even sky will not be the limit for children of Odisha.”

Mohanty born in Cuttack is the co-founder and CEO of Earth2Orbit [E2O], her third venture and India’s first private space start-up. With E2O, she dreams of leading India’s foray into international space markets.

She is the only entrepreneur in the world to have started space companies in three different countries.

Besides, she has been invited for talks at World Economic Forum, International Academy of Astronautics and United Nations. She has been nominated among the world’s top 100 young innovators and has also featured on the cover of Fortune Magazine.
