Sethi was suspended by the CPI on Saturday for violating party discipline.

After joining the BJD, Sethi said “I was being subjected to humiliation there. Most of the projects that I got sanctioned from the government was opposed by my own party men”.

He said he will be working for the BJD as he is now its member.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik who welcomed Sethi into the BJD said “Sethi’s joining will be a great help to the party in the forthcoming elections”.

CPI state unit secretary Dibakar Nayak had said on Saturday “Sethi has been suspended for breach of discipline, lack of confidence in the party and objectionable relations with the ruling party”.

Sethi was earlier denied a party ticket for Chhatrapur and in his place Krushna Nayak was named the party candidate.
