Three Maoists killed in encounter on Odisha border

Malkangiri, Nov 3:

Three suspected Maoists have been killed in an encounter with security personnel in Arlampalli in Sukma district of neighbouring Chhattisgarh on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border today, reports said.

Reportedly, the encounter took place during joint combing operations by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Chhattisgarh police. Huge quantities of explosives have been seized during the operations, the reports added.

Sources said the exchange of fire between the security personnel and suspected Maoists took place during combing operations in Arlampalli, just 20 km away from Podia block of Malkangiri district.

The Chhattisgarh police conducted the raid basing on intelligence inputs about Red rebels holding a camp at Arlampalli, sources added. Identities of the slain rebels are yet to be established.

Though exchange of fire has ended, search operations were on at the time of filing of this report.
