Tourists to have hovercraft fun soon in Odisha’s Puri

Puri: Good news for tourists flocking the pilgrim town Puri as they can have fun with friends and family on sea with hovercraft.

The test run of hovercraft has been conducted successfully on Sunday after it reached Puri. The hovercraft is capable of travelling over land and water.

The hovercraft can run on the sea for around 1 km. The tourists can enjoy the ride by end of October, said Puri hovercraft project supervisor Kamalendu Dey.

“We are providing training to G. Sahadeb of Nolia Sahi for operating the hovercraft. He will operate the hovercraft following completion of his training,” Dey said.

It is different from other sea vehicles including speed boat and jetski to operate. It takes 4-5 days for training, he added.

The best feature of a hovercraft is it will not sink into the sea at any situation and it will not overturn if one side of the vehicle becomes heavy. All the tourists will remain safe on the sea and they will be provided all sorts of life saving equipment, said trainer Rajiv Kotwal.
