Two killed, six injured in lightning strike in Odisha’s Sundergarh

Rourkela: At least two persons were killed and six injured after lightning struck them in different parts of Sundergarh district today.

In Lauhinipada, one Anama Kisan of Luthurba village was returning home after bathing in Brahmani river during which he was struck by lightning and died on the spot. After receiving the information, police reached the spot and sent the body for post mortem.

In another incident, five villagers of Sihidia village under Bonai block were killed while grazing cattle in a ground near Gandasahi. The injured were later admitted to Bonai Sub Divisional Hospital. This apart, seven cattle were killed in the lighting strike.

In Nuagaon, a youth of Ankurapali panchayat was killed in lightning strike near Bareigada while returning home in a cycle from the nearby market. The deceased was identified as Chaitu Gouda.
