Two minor siblings meet watery grave in Odisha

Rairangpur: A pall of gloom descended on Uleikundi village under Shukruli block of Mayurbhanj district as soon as news about drowning of two minor siblings in a pond in the backyard of their house broke out.

When Anama Munda of the village and two wives – Gurubari and Laxmi – returned home after finishing work at their farmland today afternoon, they did not find three-year-old son Raj Munda and daughter two-year-old Samabari.

The family members made a frantic search to trace the two siblings. Later they found Raj and Samabari floating in the pond in the house backyard and fished out the duo.

Raj and Samabari were immediately admitted to the Shukruli Community Health Centre where doctors declared the duo dead.

Though the two children’s grandmother was at home, she was unaware when the duo went near the pond, said a family member.

After being informed, the Raruana police registered an unnatural death and launched an investigation into the matter.
