Two Odisha players in national team for Jr Sultan Johar Cup Hockey

Two promising Odisha hockey players— Anand Lakra and Subodh Tirkey— of SAIL Hockey Academy (SHA) have been selected for the Indian team participating in the Junior Sultan Johar Cup tournament to be held at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia from October 10 to 16.

It may be mentioned that three players of SHA had participated in the second national level selection camp organized by Hockey India in New Delhi from July 23 to August 18 for selection of players to represent India in various international events.

SHA has been playing a defining role in identifying talents and honing their skills to help them become selection-worthy for the national team.

The Academy has produced eminent players like Birendra Lakra, one of the best defenders in the world, who has represented the country in the London Olympics and Commonwealth Games.

Under the tutelage of RK Saini, a National Institute of Sports (NIS) qualified coach, and Peter Tirkey, an international hockey player, the players get the best possible training.
