UU to bring reforms in autonomous colleges in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to control monopoly of the autonomous colleges affiliated to Utkal University in Odisha capital, the varsity authorities have decided to bring reforms for transparency in exam paper evaluation and other activities.

This was decided at a meeting of autonomous college principals chaired by Utkal University Vice Chancellor Soumendra Mohan Patnaik on Tuesday.

As per the decision, a major reform will be made in the autonomous colleges restricting the college authorities from preparing syllabus and evaluation of answer sheets on their own way.

There will be a common syllabus for all the autonomous colleges, completion of examinations in a scheduled time and central evaluation system will be implemented.

The varsity has sought opinions from college authorities on bringing reforms. The new guideline will be in force from 2018-19 academic session.

A calendar will be prepared in view of the difficulties that students face due to examinations being held during different period in the autonomous colleges.

As per the decision, all the autonomous colleges will conduct examinations as per the academic calendar, which is to be prepared by the university. A guideline will be issued asking all the colleges to follow it.

Similarly, the students will be provided migration certificate online. The fee will be taken from them for the migration certificate during filling up the form. After announcement of the results, the college authorities will issue the migration certificate online. The students can collect the certificate online, said University CDC Director Prof Santosh Tripathy.
