Weather update: Thunderstorm, heavy rain likely in Odisha till June 21

Bhubaneswar: With onset of Monsoon in Odisha, several districts may experience thunderstorm or heavy rainfall during next five days.

According to Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the southwest monsoon has set in over Odisha today covering Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts and some parts of Nuapada, Kalahandi and Rayagada districts.

The conditions are favourable for further advance of monsoon into some more parts of Odisha during next 2-3 days.

The IMD issued thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for some districts for next five days starting from today till June 21.

June 16: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Odisha

June 17-18: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha and Puri.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Keonjhar and Jajpur during the period.

June 18-19: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nuapada.

June 19-20: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Balasore, Bhadrak and Jajpur.

June 20-21: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Mayurbhanj during the period.
