Taking cognizance of the incident, MP and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi has spoken to Sambalpur SP and Burla Police Station IIC demanding immediate action in connection with the matter.

On the other hand, a case has been registered by the Burla police on the basis of a complaint lodged by MCL Security Officer KD Prasad. He had on May 28 filed the complaint regarding recovery of carcasses of six street dogs from the colony.

On May 29, members of People For Animals (PFA) organisation, Sambalpur branch, on being informed about the incident by a resident of the locality, held discussion with the security officer, who told them that a woman of the colony had recently complained about the damage done to her vehicle seat cover by the animals.
