Saheed Nagar police on Tuesday arrested a woman for cheating a job seeker of Rs 25,000 and forwarded her to court.

The arrested woman Murchhana Mohanty (33), a resident of Plot number 628 in Palaspalli area of the city was running a placement agency AB Inissue at plot number 772 in Saheed Nagar area since last few years. She was the proprietor of the agency.

According to police, one Bikram Barik (26) of Bhutamundai in Jagatsinghpur district on Tuesday lodged a complaint alleging that Murchhana had taken Rs 25,000 on August 30, 2013 after promising him a job in Arati Steel in Athagarh in Cuttack district.

When Barik failed to get a job as per the agreement, he lodged a complaint against Murchhana following which the police arrested her from her Saheed Nagar office here. .
