World Heart Day celebrated at KIMS in Odisha capital

World Heart Day was celebrated in Department of Cardiac Science, Pradyumna Bal Memorial Hospital, KIMS today.

An awareness rally was organized by Department of Cardiac Science from Patia to KIMS followed by a free heart check up camp.

Eminent cardiologist Dr. J. P. Dash focused on the theme of this year’s celebration ‘First Medical Contact (FMC) in Chest Pain’. He said, it is very important to know about heart and how to prevent heart diseases. Not only heart disease, hypertension and diabetes should be treated properly.

Dr. H. N. Mishra also gave importance on general awareness among the people. He said, the awareness message should propagate properly to the common people.

Among others Dr. K. P. Tripathy, Prof. Medicine, KIMS, Dr. Subasis Mishra, Consultant Cardiologist, KIMS, Dr. S. S. Mishra, Prof. Cardiology, Hi-Tech MCH were the eminent speakers of different CME Sessions of the day.

KIMS has become a centre of excellence and innovation and has performed many successful heart surgeries and interventional procedures so far, said Dr. Panchanan Sahoo while introducing about the programme. While Dr. B. B. Mishra proposed the vote of thanks.

Eminent cardiologists including Dr. J. P. Dash, Dr. H. N Mishra, Former Head of Cardiology, SCB Medical College and Hospital, Dr. R. N. Samanta, CEO, KIMS, Dr. B. C. Das, Director, School of Medicine, KIMS; Dr. Panchanan Sahoo, HoD Cardiology, KIMS, Cardio Surgeon Dr. B. B. Mishra were present on the occasion.
