Yellow Warning: IMD forecasts thunderstorm with lightning in these Odisha districts on September 26

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over 25 districts of Odisha during next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued Yellow Warning for the next two days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Andaman Sea & neighbourhood around 29th September. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over north Andaman Sea & adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal during the subsequent 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards with the possibility of gradual intensification. Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from parts of southwest Rajasthan, the 25th September, 2023 against its normal date of withdrawal from southwest Rajasthan of 17th September.”

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 33.6oC was recorded at Paradip and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.0oC was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Bolangir.

For Tuesday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 27.09.2023)

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Jagatsinghpur, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
