According to sources, Saroj Bhabsagar (28), a teacher at Haripur Upper Primary School in Boudh, who also happens to be the cousin of the deceased, had booked a room at Tara Residency in Ashok Nagar here. He invited Gourishankar to the room in the evening citing that he is not feeling well. Moments after Gourishankar arrived, he went to the reception counter and told a hotel staff to call police.

As a PCR van arrived, Saroj told policemen that he has committed a murder following which they rushed to the room and found the body wrapped inside three blankets with throat slit.

Saroj was immediately nabbed by the cops and taken to Capital police station for interrogation. A blood stained knife was seized from him.

However, Saroj didn’t divulge anything during interrogation as he was in an inebriated condition, police said, adding that he seems to be mentally retarded due to his abnormal behaviour. The reason behind the killing was yet to be ascertained.

The body, which was seized yesterday, was sent to Capital Hospital here today for post mortem. A scientific team has been engaged to probe into the incident.
