2019 Polls: PM Modi to contest from Odisha’s Puri?

Bhubaneswar: With the Odisha unit of BJP aiming to accomplish party’s national president Amit Shah’s Mission 120+ (to win at least 120 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls in the state), speculation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi contesting the next Lok Sabha polls from Puri parliamentary constituency to boost the mission has been doing the rounds in the political circles in the recent past.

The prediction got slightly fuelled today as BJP’s state unit president Basanta Panda said a proposal will be given to PM Modi for contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Puri parliamentary constituency.

However, a final decision in this regard will be taken by the parliamentary board of the party, Panda said, adding that they (BJP’s Odisha unit leaders) will welcome the decision of the PM contesting the polls from Puri.

Worth mentioning, Panda’s statement comes a day after the ABP News-CVoter ‘Desh ka Mood’ survey predicted that the BJP would win 13 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha if the elections are held today.

The survey further predicted that the BJD and Congress would win six and two Lok Sabha seats, respectively.

Commenting on the Mission 120+, Panda said the party will win more than the aimed number of seats in the Assembly elections. The same has been reflected in the survey, he added.
