3-day conference on tissue engineering begins at NIT, Rourkela

A three-day International Conference on ‘Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine’ organized by the Centre of Excellence in Tissue Engineering of Department of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela began today.

Inaugurating the conference at Pranakrushna Parija Auditorium of the institute, Dr Gautam Bannerjee, director of IGFL Bioceramics Ltd. and ex-director of the Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute highlighted the objectives, scope and importance of the conference.

Presiding over the event, Prof Sunil Kumar Sarangi, director, NIT Rourkela informed that the three-day conference will give a common platform to more than hundred delegates, including scientists, industrialists and young talents of the country and abroad, to discuss, share and disseminate the latest development and advancement in the field of Tissue Engineering and regenerate medicine.

The three-day conference will deliberate on the theme such as biomaterials and scaffold engineering, stem cell engineering, therapy, genetic manipulation and IPR in tissue engineering, technology development , biomechanics, Cyro-tissue engineering, In Vitro Tissue engineered cancer model, computational tissue engineering and on ethical issues, said R K Sinha, Secretary, public relation of the institute in a press release.
