4-year-old boy drowns in well in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: In a tragic incident, a four-year-old boy drowned in a pond at Chakidi village under Bangriposi police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, today.

The deceased has been identified as Megharay Murmu. The parents of the child had come to the village with him for Raksha Bandhan celebrations.

The boy, while playing near the house, fell into the well. He was rescued in an unconscious state and rushed to the Bangriposi community health centre, where he was declared dead.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after the incident.
