Over 46, 000 students to appear Odisha JEE tomorrow

Around 46,200 students will take the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) tomorrow which will be held at 81 centres in 20 towns and cities across the state.

The examination will be conducted in three sittings commencing from 9 am to 11 am (first sitting), 12 pm to 1 pm (second sitting) and 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm/ 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm (third sitting).

“We are conducting the OJEE tomorrow at 20 centres across Odisha for admission into various courses. The exam will start from 9 am and there will be negative marking this year,” OJEE Chairman, Tushar Kumar Nath said.

In the first sitting, candidates will appear test in Physics / Chemistry (for 1st year Pharmacy/ /Homoeopathy/ Ayurveda)/ Test for MBA/ Test for Lateral Entry (2nd Year) (Diploma) to Engineering / Technology. In the second sitting, students will appear test in Mathematics for 1st year Pharmacy/ Test for B Sc. (+3 Sc.) Lateral Entry to Engineering (2nd Year) / Test for LE (PHARMA)/ Test for M PHARM / Integrated MBA /M PLAN. In the third sitting, Biology for 1st year Pharmacy/ Homoeopathy/ Ayurveda and Test for 1 st year MCA / Test for Lateral Entry (2nd Year) to MCA / Test for PGAT (Post Graduate Admission Test) for M. Tech / M. Tech (Part Time) / M. Arch.

It may be mentioned that the state government has reintroduced the negative marking system from this year in the evaluation of the papers. As per the new marking system, one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

This year, there will be multiple choice type questions. The number of questions will be sixty (60) per each hour of examination. Each question shall have four answers (including one correct answer) and the examinee shall have to blacken only the appropriate circle/oval (which he/she considers most correct) in black/blue ball point pen. Each correct answer shall fetch four marks. Each unattempted question will fetch zero. One mark will be deducted for wrong answer. If more than one circle is darkened for one question, it will be treated as an incorrect answer. Blank answer OMR sheet without being darkened in any one of the answer circles will summarily be rejected. No rank will be awarded to such applicants submitting blank answer OMR sheet.

The OJEE-2016 will be held for admissions to all professional courses in the state other than Engineering and MBBS.

Students desirous of seeking admissions to MBA, MCA, M Tech, M Pharma, B Pharma, Lateral Entry Engineering, BAMS and BHMS will be required to appear the examination.

Admissions to these courses in both government and privately-run colleges will be made on the basis of rank obtained in OJEE-2016.
