Two aides of former Odisha MLA Ramesh Jena arrested for land grab

Berhampur police today arrested two aides of former Odisha MLA Ramesh Jena for allegedly grabbing land belonging to a mutt.

Builders Tulu Mangaraj and Sanjay Panigrahi, two associates of Jena were arrested from Bhubaneswar by Berhampur police in connection with a land grab within the limits of Berhampur Sadar police station, police said.

The duo was forwarded to court today.

Police said the duo was arrested by the police based on a complaint of alleged land grab lodged by Bipin Bihari Das, trustee of Radhashyam mutt in Nimkhandi mouza under Kukudakhandi block of Ganjam district.

Das in his complaint at the Sadar police station had alleged that Ramesh Jena, R Murali Mohan, Arakhita Jena, Tulu Mangaraj and Sanjay Panigrahi had forcibly grabbed about five acres of land belonging to the mutt, police added.

While the other three have been arrested earlier in connection with separate cases and are behind bars, the duo was arrested by the police, in this case, today.
